Some of my Favorite Napa Valley Wineries
I’ve been to Napa two times now and I haven’t even gotten close to visiting all of the wineries there, but I have formulated some opinions on wineries that I would definitely like to revisit. From my two trips there have emerged some certain favorites and I would like to share my personal favorites with you.
I really enjoy the family owned boutique style wineries, but some of the larger commercial vineyards have become some of my new favorites. Here are my favorites, in no particular order (I can’t pick an absolute favorite; I enjoyed them all for different reasons).
Offers the most beautiful views along with some really good wine and this is the only winery that offers an aerial tram ride. This place was beautiful and definitely made you want to hang out and enjoy the wine and the views. Sterling Vineyards is a must see. The aerial tram is worth the price!
Family owned and operated by Ryan and Crystal Waugh, one of the winemakers. This winery is one of the most unique (it’s actually home to 4 different winemakers and it’s in a really cool cave in the side of a mountain). Visiting the caves at Soda Canyon is a great learning experience offering really good wines, nice views and a really unique experience, all the while feeling very personal.
This is another unique winery with really good wines and super knowledgeable guides. This winery is in a historic, cave dating back to the 1800’s and you actually experience barrel tastings (so cool)! This winery is a true educational experience paired with good wine and good food.
There are definitely other wineries that are worth your time and there are several others that I really enjoyed, but I have listed my top three that I would definitely revisit. As a matter of fact, I wish I could visit them today!
Some of the others that I enjoyed that are worth considering are:
Castello di Amorosa – definitely do the Reserve Tour and not the self guided tour.
Baldacci Winery
Cakebread Winery
Charles Krug Winery
I would recommend making a reservation at any wineries that you really want to visit and Fall is a fantastic time to visit Napa.
